  Refocused & Informed Radio Talk Show Celebrates Its 1 st Anniversary We can’t believe it’s already been a year since Refocused & Informed Radio Talk Show launched the first episode on 6 th January 2022. The talk show on KBOB 89.9 FM is now celebrating its 1st anniversary and the special anniversary episode will broadcast live on 5 th January 2023. During the last year, the program received plenty of love and support from listeners. We are grateful and thank you all. With the show entering its second year of broadcast, we look forward to your continued support. Hosted by Angela K. Chambers and Co-host Sondia Bell, the show informs listeners and discusses pertinent community issues. Also, we aim to provide solutions to refocus and promote local businesses and entrepreneurs. Join NAACP Tulsa at the MLK Jr. Day Parade  When it comes to raising a voice for civil rights and racial equality through a non-violent approach, Martin Luther King’s name is most prominent. Despite countless challenges and unlimited criticism from oppressors, he stood his ground and played a crucial role in bringing an end to racial segregation and improving the lives of the Black community. Just like every year, MLK Jr. Day will be observed on Monday, January 16, 2023 to honor the great leader and pay tribute to his life and achievements. MLK Jr. Day Parade The Martin Luther King Jr. Day Parade will start at 7:30 AM and people will gather at the Historic Vernon A.M.E. Church at 311 N Greenwood Avenue, Tulsa Oklahoma. NAACP Tulsa branch #6143 will be present to support the parade and will have a tent set up at the venue. The organization’s Tulsa chapter has elected a new leadership and the energetic leadership with President Francetta Mays and Vice President Angela K. Chambers is taking charge on January 1, 2023. The President, VP, and other members of the upcoming administration are excited for this opportunity. They will work for people and raise awareness about critical issues such as criminal justice reforms. The case of Prentice Ponds is at the heart of NAACP’s plans in 2023 and they will seek justice for wrongfully accused and convicted people. Why the Community Needs to Support Prentice Ponds Prentice Ponds was railroaded and sentenced to life+25 years for a fistfight. He became the target of bias in the justice system. Final Meeting of NAACP’s Current Administration : Awards and Honors NAACP Tulsa branch #6143 is currently led by Pleas Thompson, President and Anne-Marie Gaines, Secretary. Despite a plethora of challenges, they have kept the organization operational for the past many years with their utmost dedication. In December’s monthly meeting, they were honored and recognized for their service. NAACP Tulsa : December’s Membership   NAACP Tulsa arranges monthly membership meetings every second Tuesday of the month. It’s an opportunity for new members to meet, discuss committee reports, and plan upcoming activities for the organization. December’s meeting was held this Tuesday December 13th at Rudisill Regional Library, 1520 N Hartford Ave., Tulsa, OK. The meeting held special importance since it was the last meeting headed by the current administration. Pleas Thompson and Anne-Marie McDougall Gaines had been there for years and deserve all the credit for keeping the Tulsa chapter going.
