Prentice Ponds - The Story Everyone Needs to Hear
Prentice Ponds – The Story Everyone Needs to Hear
The Justice system is a mess in Oklahoma. Working with people across different industries, we often get to hear unsettling news about people who received unfair treatment. The story of Prentice Ponds is one such example.
A man who was attacked in his own home and called the police himself to report the incident was convicted to Life plus 25. And the strangest thing is that the case was dismissed once before his arrest.
Case Against Prentice Ponds
Mr. Ponds was given Life plus 25 years for robbery and a false insurance claim. But the actual story about the case highlights how an ex-cop abused his power and used his connections to wrongfully accuse him of the crimes he didn’t commit.
After buying a car for personal use, Prentice Ponds reported an insurance claim when another vehicle driver damaged his car in an accident.
The insurance agent arrived for an investigation. But things got out of hand when the investigation officer started arguing unnecessarily and then attacked him. In an attempt to defend himself, Prentice punched him too. But he gave the attacker water and paper towels to stop bleeding, took photos of the incident, and then called emergency to report the attack.
Police officers arrived soon after and interviewed both parties. The investigation officer agreed not to proceed with the case and no one was arrested at that time. But Prentice Ponds and his family were surprised when officers arrived at his doorstep six months later to arrest him.
Despite baseless charges, he was sentenced to Life + 25 and he is now in state prison.
Justice for Prentice Ponds
The family of Prentice Ponds has been pleading his case since his conviction in 2017. But Oklahoma Court keeps denying his appeal.
He has sufficient evidence to prove that the insurance claim was genuine and he was attacked by the insurance investigator. But the court has been denying his appeal to prove his innocence.
We can’t sit back anymore and let unjust judges and prosecutors target innocent people for personal vendetta. So, we need to unite as a community and raise our voices against injustice.
Prentice Ponds has been waiting to go back to his family.
Your voice matters! Raise it for the good cause and support us in our mission to get justice for him!
