Why is Ricky Nelson Wright Jr Still in Prison?

Mother’s Against Injustice is a community organization, fighting against injustice. They raise voice for innocent people railroaded by the justice system and support mothers seeking justice for their wrongfully imprisoned sons.

The organization arranged a press conference on Friday, 28/10/2022 at Ella Mae's Event Center to reveal facts that were ignored in Case No. F-2022-302. Ricky Nelson Wright Jr. is serving 10 years in prison despite evidence proving his innocence.

False Allegations Against Ricky Wright Jr.

Ricky Nelson Wright Jr. is serving his time for rape. But he was neither identified by DNA nor the victim identified him as the culprit. Then why is he not free?

In February 2019, Peggy Miller, a 61-year-old elderly woman, was raped by a black man. The attacker sexually assaulted her behind a church. As per the victim, he followed her after she went to a convenience store.

Afterwards, she ran around looking for help and rang doorbells to call the police. One of the residents took her inside and called 911 which arrived shortly after. They collected DNA and interviewed the rape victim.

The police force received a serology certificate of analysis from the Cultural Police Forensic Laboratory and a DNA report but they were unable to reach Peggy Miller. On 11th March, the victim's daughter, Michelle Martinez, contacted them to inform them that her mother was in Canada in a hospital for a head injury she got during the sexual attack.

As per Peggy Miller, the attacker was a black man with an afro. Based on her description, investigators showed her photos of six potential suspects and she did not point out Ricky Wright Jr.

The woman suggested the attacker might have worked at the convenience store since she saw him around there and the detective went on to arrest 16-year-old Ricky Nelson Wright Jr. just because he worked there.

Since the youngster was falsely accused, his mother has been trying hard to seek justice and is running around despite having a heart condition.

Critical Evidence Proving His Innocence

Case F-2022-302 is a nightmare for Ricky Nelson Wright Jr. and his family. The young man is serving 10 years imprisonment for a crime he didn’t commit.

There are so many critical details that were ignored by investigation officers and the court.

First, the woman who was sexually assaulted didn’t recognize him as the culprit. Then the DNA report didn’t match which is solid proof of his innocence. But corrupt officers charged Ricky Nelson Wright Jr. with rape and disregarded this critical evidence.

Ricky Nelson Wright Jr. Deserves Justice

Why is Ricky Nelson Wright Jr. still in person?

On what basis was he charged when DNA didn’t match?

The Oklahoma justice system has ruined the lives of so many innocent black men. How long will this go on? Ricky Nelson Wright Jr. deserves justice!

We need transformation in the criminal justice system so our sons, fathers, brothers, husbands, or uncles don’t fall victim to corruption in the justice system.

Mother's Against Injustice is a chapter of the Pamela Smith Foundation.
