Injustices in Oklahoma: Prentice Ponds Still Seeking a Fair Trial

Staff Writer

The case of Prentice Ponds sheds light on injustices in Oklahoma. He was sentenced to Life in prison with additional 25 years for robbery and insurance fraud. But the unfair trial and bias of the court raises questions on our justice system.

Oklahoma’s Biased Justice System

The purpose of the justice system is to serve fair and quick justice for all. But with the way the system has been operating in Oklahoma, getting a fair verdict in a legal case isn’t easy.

The example of Prentice Ponds is in front of us. He was attacked by an insurance adjuster in his own home. Then the case was dropped within a few months without any arrest. But 2 years after the said incident, he was arrested again and charged with Life+25 for crimes he didn’t even commit.

Doesn’t Prentice Ponds deserve a fair trial to prove his innocence?

Facts Ignored in Trial

Prentice Ponds was previously incarcerated for eleven years for robbery. But after serving his sentence, Mr. Ponds became a changed man for his family. He bought a home where he loved spending time with his kids and grandkids.

Shortly after buying a car from eBay, he submitted a claim with an insurance company for an accident that happened due to the mistake of the other driver. The insurance adjuster arrived at his place for investigation and this is when things took a bad turn.

After attacking Prentice Ponds in his own home, he made a false report. Prentice has photos to prove his innocence but the court denied him the chance to present this evidence.

The judge in the case, Kelly Greenough, had previously worked with the State Insurance Fund, which is why she may have been biased with her verdict. Further, Prentice Ponds’ appeal for another trial was rejected and he was sentenced to such an inhumane sentence due to his past criminal record – which isn’t fair.

Prentice Ponds Deserves a Fair Chance

The family of Prentice Ponds and a few local organizations continue with the efforts to bring him back home. He deserves a fair chance to prove his innocence.

There were many discrepancies in his trial. We need to support him as a community and do what we can to help him get a fair trial and a fair decision.

We need to support the cause and raise a voice against injustices in Oklahoma. Today, it’s Prentice Ponds, tomorrow it can be another one of us. So, let’s support him in every way we can.
