Final Meeting of NAACP’s Current Administration: Awards and Honors

NAACP Tulsa branch #6143 is currently led by Pleas Thompson, President and Anne-Marie Gaines, Secretary. Despite a plethora of challenges, they have kept the organization operational for the past many years with their utmost dedication. In December’s monthly meeting, they were honored and recognized for their service.

NAACP Tulsa: December’s Membership 
NAACP Tulsa arranges monthly membership meetings every second Tuesday of the month. It’s an opportunity for new members to meet, discuss committee reports, and plan upcoming activities for the organization.

December’s meeting was held this Tuesday December 13th at Rudisill Regional Library, 1520 N Hartford Ave., Tulsa, OK. The meeting held special importance since it was the last meeting headed by the current administration.

Pleas Thompson and Anne-Marie McDougall Gaines had been there for years and deserve all the credit for keeping the Tulsa chapter going.

They protected the organization from groups that wanted to take over NAACP Tulsa and worked tirelessly to benefit the community. Also, Pleas Thompson made donations to the organization to cover dues of the non-profit organization.

Their remarkable services were recognized in December’s membership meetings. The administration members Anne-Marie Gaines and Pleas Thompson were honored and presented with awards for their efforts and vital roles in keeping NAACP Tulsa going.
The meeting had new and existing members in attendance and the guests were treated to light hors d'oeuvres, cookies, cider, pie, and punch.

NAACP Tulsa Needs Your Support
NAACP Tulsa is a platform that connects people and serves the community. The new leadership is set to take charge on the 1st of January, 2023 and work for social justice, equality, and finding solutions to community problems.

The next General Membership Meeting of NAACP Tulsa branch #6143 is scheduled on January 10th, 2023. This will be the very first event arranged by the new leadership including President Francetta Mays, VP Angela K. Chambers, Secretary Anna-Marie Gaines, Treasurer Arthetha Pouncil, and Executive Members Jane Malone and Pleas Thompson.

On February 11, 2023, the NAACP Tulsa Branch #6143 will host Inaugural Service & Fundraising Gala at the DoubleTree Hotel by Hilton Downtown Tulsa. Tickets are available on Eventbrite.

Greenwood Chamber of Commerce Faces Fire Threats from Tenant  Staff Writer Greenwood Chamber of Commerce has been repeatedly receiving fire threats from disgruntled tenant. This aggressive behavior against the non-profit organization has affected its operations, making it difficult for the administration to support local businesses. Why Fire Watch Was Issued Devin Williams, the owner of DW Speak Easy, recently filed a report against the Chamber. The business owner accused the Chamber of violating building maintenance laws which resulted in his business failure. However, the business failed due to the mismanagement and lack of planning of the business owner and has been sued in court on unpaid agreements. After being sued and losing his case, Williams has been involved in propaganda against the Chamber of Commerce with the help of the former chamber member and friends including a local radio show and local news outlet.
