Join NAACP Tulsa at the MLK Jr. Day Parade 


When it comes to raising a voice for civil rights and racial equality through a non-violent approach, Martin Luther King’s name is most prominent. Despite countless challenges and unlimited criticism from oppressors, he stood his ground and played a crucial role in bringing an end to racial segregation and improving the lives of the Black community.

Just like every year, MLK Jr. Day will be observed on Monday, January 16, 2023 to honor the great leader and pay tribute to his life and achievements.

MLK Jr. Day Parade

The Martin Luther King Jr. Day Parade will start at 7:30 AM and people will gather at the Historic Vernon A.M.E. Church at 311 N Greenwood Avenue, Tulsa Oklahoma. NAACP Tulsa branch #6143 will be present to support the parade and will have a tent set up at the venue.

The purpose of the parade is to commemorate the life of MLK Jr. and highlight the importance of equality and justice in society. And this is what the NAACP organization advocates for.

Join us at the Historic Vernon A.M.E. Church on Monday, January 16, 2023 at 7:30 AM for Membership Drive, Voter Registration, buying NAACP merchandise, and making donations to the non-profit organization.

The organization has elected a new leadership with Francetta Mays as President and Angela K. Chambers as the Vice President along with other members.

The newly-elected team will take charge in January and work for bringing positive change in Tulsa. We need your support to achieve goals for the betterment of the community.

Greenwood Chamber of Commerce Faces Fire Threats from Tenant  Staff Writer Greenwood Chamber of Commerce has been repeatedly receiving fire threats from disgruntled tenant. This aggressive behavior against the non-profit organization has affected its operations, making it difficult for the administration to support local businesses. Why Fire Watch Was Issued Devin Williams, the owner of DW Speak Easy, recently filed a report against the Chamber. The business owner accused the Chamber of violating building maintenance laws which resulted in his business failure. However, the business failed due to the mismanagement and lack of planning of the business owner and has been sued in court on unpaid agreements.
